    Abstract

This article asks what accounts for the perduring attractiveness of the seven deadly sins. Through an exploration of the film 'Seven', and a brief examination of the traditional idea of the seven capital vices, it looks at the challenge these vices pose to living a happy life. By an analogy to anti-consumerist 'subvertisments' and 'uncommercials', the article proposes that the task is to see through the illusory attraction of the seven capital vices.
